What’s on in Pembrokeshire: February 2015

With the February half term on the approach there is never a better excuse to visit Pembrokeshire and let the kids run wild through this stunning rural and coastal landscape. 

In hot anticipation of this there are plenty of great family events taking place in west Wales, with also a few great events for couples looking to enjoy a romantic getaway with Valentine’s Day offers on Pembrokeshire cottages.

50 Things February Challenge

The National Trust often puts on some fantastic events for the little ones at this time of year and February 2015 is no exception. The 50 Things February Challenge at Lodge Park Woods, Stackpole is taking place on the 19th February in the midst of the Half Term week, so will be sure to perk up any weary faces. Starting at 11am until 3pm, this great day out consists of flying kites and snail racing to name just a few of the great 50 things!

The Battle of Fishguard

Then on the weekend there’s a great historic event for the adults, marking the night of 22nd February 1797 when Tregwynt Mansion was the setting for a messenger from the Fishguard & Newport Volunteer Infantry to instruct Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Knox of an invasion. The mansion is hosting the Battle of Fishguard and will be the setting of an exhibition, ‘War Game’, and concert over the 21st and 22nd February.

Saundersfoot Food and Craft Festival

Those staying in self-catering Saundersfoot holiday cottages at the end of the month will want to make the most of the Saundersfoot Food and Craft Festival between the 28th February and 1st March. Taking place at the Regency Hall there will be live cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs in addition to plenty of local food to try and crafts to take home. Also not to be missed is the ‘Cawl Championship of the World and Elsewhere’, where visitors can sample a serving of cawl, the Welsh for soup or a broth, from each restaurant in the village before deciding on a winner.
