Haverfoodfest a success!

The first ever Haverfoodfest food festival has been hailed a huge success after attracting some 4,000 visitors.Close to popular coastal cottages of Tenby and Saundersfoot, the event attracted many visitors from outside of Wales as well as numerous locals. The event saw close to 50 stalls offering produce from Pembrokeshire and beyond, as well as culinary displays from celebrity chefs.

Dark Sky Site nominations for Pembrokeshire coastline

Pembrokeshire has received 10 nominations for sites across its coastline to be rewarded special status as Dark Sky Discovery Sites. The nominations will now be considered by the UK Dark Sky Discovery Partnership and, if awarded, they will join the already accredited site at Broad Haven South near Bosherton.

Celebrity chef confirmed for Milford Fish Festival

Celebrity chef Stephen Terry has been confirmed for June’s Milford Fish Festival, an event that looks to satisfy demand after Pembrokeshire Fish Week sadly had to be cancelled. Terry is not the only famous face set to make an appearance at the event, as well-known local artist Dorian Spencer Davies is also due to be a part of the festival’s proceedings.

Tenby island to open

Tenby’s famous Catherine Island may soon be open to the public once more as a plan to reopen the Victorian fort on the island has been recommended for approval. A similar proposal was turned down by National Park planners previous to this latest plan in 2013, but the latest proposition from the Tenby Island Project looks promising as it has been said that it would produce “economic benefit”. It has been 36 years since the fort was in use as a zoo so, should the plans get the go ahead, it could mean an increase in Tenby cottage holiday bookings and visitors to the area.

Fort in Pembrokeshire open to the public for the first time

Chapel Bay Fort and Museum at Angle in Pembrokeshire is opening up to the public for the first time on 3rd April. The Victorian Fort and museum have been undergoing major restoration work, but this April visitors staying in Pembrokeshire cottages near Angle and locals will be able to explore the fort and see a number of special exhibitions that will be on show in the museum.The coastal artillery fort dates back to 1891 and is the earliest known fort in the world to be made from concrete.

Feature movie currently being filmed at Pembroke Castle

Film crews have descended on Pembrokeshire this week in order to capture scenes for a new feature movie. Pembroke Castle and its grounds are currently being used as the location for a film under the working title of Rosebud – The Movie, which is being produced by Tiger Aspect Productions. Due to start today, it is thought that filming will continue until Saturday evening and will take place from 7am-7pm each day.
